An amazing community event took place this past weekend to support Vancouver Island's children! With the thankful support of Macquarie Private Wealth, TELUS, TeamWorks, Bear Mountain Arena and many others, the first annual Rink of Dreams Hockey Marathon was a tremendous success. Hockey players from 5 to 85, moms, dads, teenagers, kids and grandparents hit the ice or danced to the rock tunes of local bands to raise money for Help Fill A Dream. The result .... over $80,000!!
These funds will be directed to programs assisting: Vancouver Island families to join their children at the hospital through travel, food and accommodation funding; supporting the realization of children's dreams; and projects to make children's daily life a little easier. These children with life-threatening conditions, along with their parents, face a much bumpier road to travel. Help Fill a Dream recognizes the struggle that these children and their families face as one that is a great challenge, but one that may be overcome with a little assistance along the way. The community support this weekend was truly spectacular ... smoothing the way, inspiring hope!
