Child's Birthday 'Dream' Fulfilled
Victoria, BC - February 9, 2007
The local Help Fill A Dream Foundation is pleased to announce that they have fulfilled the dream of another Vancouver Island child. It was the dream of 12 year old Bailey to visit the princesses in Disneyland for her 13th birthday. Bailey has fetal valproate syndrome, which means she has stopped growing and has trouble doing a lot of things kids her age normally do.
The Help Fill A Dream Foundation provided a fun experience for the family to share and to create a lasting memory. “It is important for a child to know that they have support, and to look forward to having their dream fulfilled as it develops a positive attitude which is so crucial as they battle their illness and undergo treatment” says Bob Campbell, President of Help Fill A Dream.
"Bailey had an amazing trip, as did our whole family” says Bailey’s mom. “We can’t thank the Help Fill A Dream Foundation enough for this gift to her. It is something she will never forget."
Since its inception in 1986, the Help Fill A Dream Foundation has granted over 700 dreams and provided emergency financial assistance for more than 800 children and their families from Vancouver Island and throughout the province, under the age of 19 with life threatening illnesses. Dreams range from trips to Disneyland, the most popular request, to purchasing computers to help with schoolwork. The Foundation also provides emergency financial aid to families to ease the burden created by reduced incomes, medical expenses, and other drains on family resources. The Help Fill A Dream Foundation is the only organization of its kind that provides emergency financial aid. The organization is funded by corporate sponsors, service organizations and by individual donors.
