Spare Change For Children

Victoria, BC - April 26, 2007

Is spare change burning a hole in your pocket? Change the life of a child by dropping those coins in a Help Fill A Dream collection box. During the month of May, the Help Fill A Dream Foundation (HFAD) will have collection boxes at every till at every Greater Victoria Thrifty Foods store. The 2007 Spare Change For Children Campaign raises funds for HFAD's continuing programs for sick kids on Vancouver Island.

HFAD changes children's lives by replacing frustration and despair with hope. A local charitable organization, Help Fill A Dream fulfills the dreams of Vancouver Island children 18 and under with life threatening illnesses and provides emergency financial aid to their families. In the past 20 years, HFAD has given over 1500 children and families new hope for the future.

"We assist about 100 families each year" said Bob Campbell, President of HFAD, "By the time we hear about them they are stretched to the limit emotionally and financially. The fulfillment of a dream, like a trip to Disneyland or a new computer, helps a child cope with their illness and provides a lasting memory for the family. We are also the only organization of our kind to provide emergency financial aid to families to ease the burden created by reduced incomes, medical expenses, and other drains on family resources".

The Help Fill a Dream Foundation thanks Thrifty Foods for its support of the 2007 Spare Change For Children Campaign.
