Marathon Man

January 27, 2013

Donald Peterson worked with his friend Erin Smith to put on the Mistletoe Gala in December, and that night of music, dancing and a silent auction raised thousands for Help Fill A Dream. You might think that he would be ready for a vacation after putting so much effort into that event and you would be partly right. He is going to Costa Rica in February to participating in the 6 day Coastal Challenge Rainforest Expedition Run with the aim of raising more money for HFAD. Only after that is done will he head to the beach for a well deserved rest.

The, “Run”, as he so modestly puts it, is really a total of 6 separate stages, varying from 23 to 52 kilometers a day and totaling 225 kilometers. The course goes through jungles, mountains and beaches, crossing highlands, reefs and rivers along Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. The finish is near the Panama border in the Corcovado National Park, a Unesco World Heritage site.

We’ll be doing a follow up story on Donald’s experience in Costa Rica after he returns to Victoria but in the meantime you can make a donation in support of his efforts by going to:
